Earth Day 2009: 1000 Trees for Caitlin

With Mother Nature in full cooperation, students in Otisville joined a billion people around the world and celebrated Earth Day and Arbor Day.  Fifth grade students spent the morning separating and wrapping 1000 trees.  Each student in Otisville received a tree, purchased by the PTO, in honor of Caitlin Hammaren, the Minisink student lost in the tragedy at Virginia Tech.  The celebration included a short play about the environment performed by Kindergarten and 5th grade students. There was also a poem written and read by a first grade student.  The ceremonies concluded with an Earth Day song and an Earth Day pledge. View  the Webpage
